Our team of experts covers all aspects of the admissions process, including certified Independent Educational Consultants who are members of the IECA, professional writers, former application readers, and college essay and interview specialists with years of experience helping students craft their personal statements and confidently present their best selves in interviews.

I am Li Yue, the founder of 1K Miles. I earned a BS from Nanjing University in China and an MS from UNC Chapel Hill. I also hold a certificate from the University of California in Independent Educational Consulting and am a certified MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator)  practitioner.

After nearly twenty years working in the high-tech industry in Silicon Valley, I followed my passion to focus on education. During my year-long study to attain my certificate, I gained valuable insight on issues that college applicants face today, as well as new perspectives from discussions with colleagues and college admission officers. I have continued to expand my firsthand knowledge of college admissions by visiting schools across the country and by attending conferences and workshops.
